How come the photos I use to accompany my blogs disappear?

That’s just a beta glitch on your page. It happened to me for a few days as well. They eventually reappeared. You can send in a beta feedback form and tell Yahoo about it…explain in detail that the photos are the ones that you use the BROWSE button for that places a photo at the top of your blog…and NOT photos that you are placing in the body of your blog by using html coding. The link to the feedback form is at the upper right corner of your page above the word SETTINGS.
